The closest villages to Arrina are Sheildaig (approximately 10 miles) and Applecross (14 miles). Shieldaig is very picturesque, the views to sea being dominated by Shieldaig Island. The island now owned by the National Trust for Scotland is densely covered in Scots pine trees. The picturesque village of Shieldaig offers amenities including a primary school, local shop, seafood restaurant, pub, church, gift shop and hotel. Secondary schooling can be found at Gairloch for which a bus transports pupils daily. The city of Inverness is approximately 75 miles from Arrina and offers a host of business, shopping and leisure facilities along with travel links by road, rail and air to national and international destinations. Applecross is probably one of the remotest areas in Britain and is accessed either from the mountain pass of the Bealach na Ba, or the coastal road that runs from Shieldaig. Directions

Arrina is approximately 75 miles from Inverness. Travelling from Inverness, continue north over the Kessock Bridge on the A9. At the Tore roundabout (five miles) take the A835 (signposted Ullapool). Pass through Contin and Garve. Shortly after Garve take a left turn onto the A832 (signposted Gairloch). After approximately fifteen miles arrive at Achnasheen and at the roundabout take the second exit, the A832 (signposted Gairloch and Kinlochewe). After ten miles arrive at Kinlochewe and take a left turn onto the A896 (signposted Shieldaig and Torridon). Continue past Shieldaig and turn right following the signpost for Applecross. Arrina is one mile beyond Kenmore, marked on map as Arinacrinachd.
