Your best line of defence against burglars could be - your garden.

Tesco Home insurance has produced a handy list of things green fingered homeowners can do to protect themselves from burglars using their gardening skills.  It advises planting prickly plants below windows to deter thieves, cutting back low hanging branches from trees to deprive would be intruders of cover and using gravel for paths because it walking on it makes a noise that will alert homeowners to intruders.

Other measures include adding loose trellises to fences because they are too unstable to climb over and fitting security lighting at key points.
