The Village people

July 1, 2008

Unless you've been living in a cupboard for the last year, you'll certainly know all about Ferry Village. A huge project Best Renfrewbeing undertaken by a portfolio of builders, it extends west along the southern bank of the Clyde, from the Braehead shopping centre to the Renfrew ferry terminal, stretching back towards the skyline in both directions beyond the newly widened Kings Inch Road.

At the heart of this emerging suburb is Best, a collaboration between Gladedale and Strathclyde Homes. Their eponymous contribution to Ferry Village will comprise a huge spread of homes, each specifically designed purely for this development, and starting with the new district's signature template of two and three bedroom apartments. However, as the sales team will tell you on 0141 886 3882, there's much more to choose from here, such as two or three bedroom mews homes, three and four-bed townhouses, and even a collection of detached villas, ranging across ten different styles from three to five bedrooms in size.

By adopting this approach, Best can combine the experience of both its parent companies, as well as drawing in residents who otherwise wouldn't have considered relocating to Renfrew. Prices at the development start at £170,000, with detached homes upwards of £249,000, and the latter home styles are typified by the four-bed Kesson, a wide property with a main apartment at each corner of its two storey layout. That means three ground floor public rooms, a dining kitchen and utility downstairs, with four bedrooms (three with en-suite access and integrated wardrobes) positioned above them. Incorporating up to ten separate cupboards or wardrobes throughout (depending on the optional inclusion of a shower cubicle in the family bathroom) this is a home truly fit for 21st century living - rather like the suburb around it.
