New homes in West/East Dunbartonshire and Stirling

Builder: Dawn Homes
Location: Springboig
Development: Springboig Avenue
Summary: Close to the forthcoming Commonwealth village
Contact: 0141 285 6700

Overview:With the celebrations of Glasgow’s Commonwealth Games triumph still fresh in the memory, Dawn Homes have picked an opportune time to unveil a new development of apartments and terraced houses off Springboig Avenue in the heart of the city’s eastern quarter. Two and a half miles from the epicentre of the 2014 events, the properties under development in Springboig include 18 two-bed apartments and 22 three-bed terraced villas. Site works have just started and a sales launch isn’t scheduled until the New Year. However, among the few confirmed facts are the presence of gas central heating, double glazing and a choice of kitchens.

Builder: CALA
Location: Bearsden
Development: Canniesburn
Summary: Transformation of the old hospital complex
Contact: 0141 942 8329

Overview: Abandoned years ago, Canniesburn is now being transformed into a modern executive estate, albeit one which retains the stunning Art Deco design and influences of the James Miller-designed buildings at the far end of a sweeping tree-lined access road. Within one of the refurbished buildings stand two bedroom apartments, although that description hardly does justice to the high ceilinged duplex properties available to buy. A traditional counterpoint to the sympathetically designed new-build homes nearby, many of these duplex apartments feature open plan lounge and kitchens extending to over 35 feet, with en-suites as standard.

Builder: Bellway
Location: Parkhead
Development: Pyrus
Summary: An anagram alluding to the site’s history
Contact: 0141 554 7490

Overview:Standing on the site of an old Irn-Bru factory, Pyrus’s name is an ingredient-related pun, but much more serious is the explosion in activity due to take place around this site now the 2014 Commonwealth Games are officially coming to Dalmarnock round the corner. In recognition of the east end’s status as Glasgow’s most affordable quarter, homes to be built here will include one and two bedroom apartments, alongside two and three-bed terraced villas, all priced within reach of the local market and producing much-needed homes for first time buyers and young families alike. As well as the new indoor sports arena, The Forge is just around the corner.

Builder: Imagine Projects
Location: Bridge Of Allan
Development: Museum Hall
Summary: The first Imagine development outside Glasgow
Contact: 0141 229 0808

Overview: To be found beside the lush, landscaped gardens belonging to Bridge of Allan’s memorial park, the Museum Hall development is set in buildings that make no secret of their history, from the Elgin plaster and stained glass through to the double height reception area. A total of 15 homes will be crafted out of the Victorian sandstone buildings, each with its own character and many enjoying balconies or mezzanine levels. Every home will be comprehensively appointed, within professionally landscaped communal gardens maintained by a property manager. The Hall dates back over 125 years and still features the original ornate stone front façade.

Builder: Robert F Duff (selling solicitor)
Location: Cumbrae
Development: Former East Church
Summary: A developer’s dream on Cumbrae
Contact: 0844 800 1231

Overview:At first glance, this derelict church on the isle of Cumbrae appears to have little obvious relevance to the new build market. However, the former East Church has already been granted full planning permission for conversion into four luxury apartments, each two bedrooms in size. There’s also space in the plans for a penthouse suite, not to mention scope for developing the three-bed attached cottage to the rear of the compound. The only steps required to create a six-property development out of this gothic building (complete with bell tower and original stained glass) are construction-based, and the subjects may be sold separately.

Builder: George Wimpey
Location: Ruchill
Development: Park Gardens
Summary: Show homes open for inspection on site
Contact: 0141 336 4887

Overview: Ruchill can be found in the north west of the city, and George Wimpey have produced an eclectic mix of homes at this site. The townhouses are particularly character-filled, with the towering Burrell presenting a much more imposing frontage to passing traffic than would be the case with a conventional two storey property. As well as a single garage, the ground floor has a bedroom, utility and shower room, with obvious potential as a teenager wing, with the lounge and dining room divided by double doors, and the kitchen open-plan.

Builder: Mactaggart & Mickel
Location: Lennoxtown
Development: Campsie View
Summary: Named after the views of the hills to the north
Contact: 01360 848015

Overview: Designed in a remarkable oval shape, the 76-property estate includes the cottage-style Skye and the two bedroom Lismore mid terrace. Despite only having one bedroom, the Skye is a marvellous first property, with a double bedroom directly across the hallway from the family bathroom, and a deep walk-in storage cupboard beyond. The lounge is well proportioned and open plan to a distinctly separate dining space, the latter also serving as a conduit into the kitchen with its two banks of cabinets offering comprehensive storage. Conversely, the Lismore is an archetypal semi villa, with two double and one single bedroom upstairs.

Builder: Dawn Homes
Location: Springburn
Development: Petershill Court
Summary: Proudly flying the flag for north Glasgow
Contact: 0141 285 6700

Overview: Like many suburbs beyond the M8, Springburn is closer to the centre of Glasgow than first impressions might suggest, and it’s the setting for Dawn Homes’ new Petershill Court apartment development. When the construction teams have departed, Petershill Court will comprise 48 two bedroom properties, standing within four storey buildings, and the eight newly released apartments are secluded from the development’s surroundings. Specifications include the usual en-suites, well-proportioned kitchens, fully fitted bathrooms and residents’ parking, while leaving the car at home is a viable option thanks to the close proximity of Barnhill train station.

Builder: Kenmore Homes
Location: Hogganfield
Development: Lochside View
Summary: Compact suburb to the north of Glasgow
Contact: 0141 770 9527

Overview:Hogganfield has been energised by the arrival of Kenmore, with a show home recently opened to emphasise the space being incorporated into the 24 plots. On the ground floor of this four bedroom three-storey townhouse, there’s a downstairs cloakroom preceding the kitchen and dining room, with patio doors out into the rear garden. The first floor centres on a grand lounge with four full-height windows, while a cloakroom joins the en-suite equipped master bedroom in completing the layout. As for the top floor, the space is used efficiently to accommodate three bedrooms, one en-suite. Also under development are two-bed apartments and penthouses.
