New homes in Ayrshire

Builder: Consort Homes
Location: Skelmorlie
Development: Chaseley
Summary: Opposite the spectacular Firth of Clyde
Contact: 01475 529827

Overview: Given the waterfront setting, it’s no surprise that all but ten of the apartments at Chaseley have been purchased. The development itself has a whitewashed frontage, flat roof and large balconies, extending across a total of six levels. Most of the apartment styles have now sold, although the uncomplicated Uist remains available, and the quirky Rum is also worth a mention. Here, both bedrooms open onto a privatev terrace, with the master also having a separate Parisian balcony beyond a glazed door. Meanwhile, at around 20 foot square, the lounge and open-plan kitchen also access a terrace, for al fresco dining.

Builder: Robertson Homes
Location: Irvine
Development: Earlswood
Summary: Typifying Irvine’s recent renaissance
Contact: 01294 215037

Overview:Earlswood is a substantial site, which may well grow further in the future. For now, 123 properties are being built, all detached and drawn from the evocatively named International Collection of homes, which has already been seen at other Robertson developm ents around the country. Arguably the most impressive is the St Tropez, instantly identifiable thanks to its double attached garage. Downstairs, four public rooms share space with a kitchen, utility and cloak room, while directly above, three of the four bedrooms have en-suites and wardrobes, with the fourth standing beside the family bathroom.

Builder: Modus Estates
Location: Maybole
Development: Westchurch
Summary: New homes fashioned from traditional buildings
Contact: 0141 332 0004

Overview:This 14-property site stands along a private road and is includes newly built townhouses and detached villas. Each of the 11 plots has a unique name, although some are identical, leaving six different home styles for buyers to choose from. Consider, for instance, the five bedroom detached villas. Two public apartments join an outsized kitchen on the lower level, with the top floor surrendered to a huge Velux windowed bedroom and its similarly expansive en-suite. Westchurch will also be notable for its unexpected standard specification, where heated chrome towel rails feature in the Scope-equipped bathrooms..

Builder: Mactaggart & Mickel
Location: Largs
Development: White Court
Summary: A development within a development
Contact: 01475 673608

Overview: This self-contained enclave within The Rise will be populated by seven expansively proportioned five-bedroom detached villas, including one of the biggest properties the builder has ever sold – the eagerly awaited five bedroom Kerrera. Mactaggart & Mickel claim to have drawn inspiration from country homes in Ayrshire when designing the properties within White Court. What can’t be denied is the level of space on offer, with the Kerrera covering over 250 square meters and summed up by the 18 foot master bedroom, with a private dressing room leading into a five-piece en-suite featuring both a bath and a separate shower cubicle.

Builder: Miller Homes (Scotland West)
Location: Mauchline
Development: Burns Meadow
Summary: Nestling between Welton Road and Hamilton Avenue
Contact: 01290 553198

Overview:Rather unusually, many of these properties face out over the established community, instead of being tucked away in a self-contained estate, and this is consequently a more inclusive development, with a new show home taking over from the former Carron show home – which has just been added to the market. The L-shaped reception hallway looks larger as a result of red and pink spirals, drawing the eye to the rear-facing lounge and its garden aspects, with the front-facing apartment turning out to be a dining room. There’s an oak-finished kitchen, downstairs cloakroom and three brightly finished upper bedrooms including two with wardrobes.

Builder: George Wimpey
Location: Troon
Development: Kingsmead
Summary: One of Scotland’s most prestigious locations
Contact: 01292 676612

Overview: This collection of four-bed executive villas sets its stall out with two show homes and a view property. The latter is unconventionally laid out; the front-facing dining room could fulfil a number of roles, whereas the bay windowed lounge to the rear is obviously the principal public room. There’s a large breakfasting kitchen, with a cloakroom adjoining the utility room, and the first floor adopts a classic bedroom-at-each-corner philosophy, with three of the apartments enjoying en-suite access. As for the Elm and Cedar show properties, both are conventionally laid out six apartment villas with French-doored breakfasting kitchens and four bathrooms.

Builder: Bellway
Location: Kilmarnock
Development: Springhill Meadows
Summary: A collection of family and executive villas
Contact: 01563 559586

Overview: Home to a typical array of three, four and five bedroom detached properties, homes here will include the Cramond, already seen at a number of other sites across Strathclyde, but no less impressive in this particular incarnation. Instantly grabbing the attention, the 26 foot expanse of living and dining space creates a positive impression from the start, with the combined kitchen and family room almost as long, and a utility room accessing the downstairs cloakroom. Upstairs, all five bedrooms are generously proportioned, especially the master with two banks of wardrobes and an en-suite. Two other bedrooms share a Jack-and-Jill en-suite between them.

Builder: Stewart Milne Homes
Location: Cumnock
Development: Cherrytrees
Summary: The newest contribution to this historic setting
Contact: 01290 420922

Overview: The compact development along Auchinleck Road will comprise just 23 properties, making this an unusually small estate by the builder’s standards. The homes being built are all detached, and they range between four and five bedrooms in size. It doesn’t matter which particular property type you select in terms of some specifications, with every home featuring a double garage, integrated appliances and German-designed kitchens. All five property styles have two en-suites while three of the five up the ante with walk-in closets in the master bedrooms; the fourth type goes one better again with matching his-and-hers wardrobes.

Builder: CCG Homes
Location: Kilmarnock
Development: Deansgate
Summary: A modest approach to pricing
Contact: 0141 643 3797

Overview: Despite a competitively low price band, it would be wrong to assume that Deansgate is a compact development with just a few properties at this price, since the site will eventually encompass 192 two and three bedroom homes across a number of disparate styles, with three and four-bed detached villas to follow in the second phase of construction. For now, information on the first phase includes the fact that phase one homes such as the Hunter, Cadell and Peploe each offer a downstairs cloakroom tucked away under the staircase, a bay windowed lounge, and two or three double bedrooms beside the three-piece family bathroom.

Builder: Mactaggart & Mickel
Location: Largs
Development: The Rise
Summary: Situated around a circular avenue with cul-de-sacs
Contact: 01475 673608

Overview: Made up entirely of detached properties between three and five bedrooms in size, first port of call will probably be the Colonsay show home, an attractively presented house with a detached double garage and entrance portico into the reception hallway. As well as lounge, dining and study rooms, there’s a breakfasting kitchen with access into an optional rear-facing conservatory, which can be specified as part of the construction of your chosen plot. Climb the central staircase, and the gallery landing leads to a bedroom in each corner of the first floor, one of which is naturally en-suite equipped, and there’s a four piece family bathroom as well.
